SPRINGTIME TIPS FOR A GARDEN PARTY

As spring blooms, celebration season begins. With the warmer weather it is the perfect chance to organise a garden soiree to enjoy the outdoors with friends. Here are a few tips when planning your next garden gathering: Decorating the great outdoors: When decorating outdoors consider what décor will work well regardless of the wind. Long streamers or garlands hanging down vertically which may get tangled won’t work as well as a bunting or garland secured on both ends. Lanterns are also a popular choice if you have easy access to branches above the party area. If so - you could also choose unique décor such as flowers in hanging vases, bird cages or parasols.

If hanging decorations won’t work for your location then consider ways you can incorporate decorations on your table such as floral centrepieces or a cluster of colourful glass bottles, or mason jars. Balloons could also be used whimsically around your garden area to create a beautiful and fun setting:

Gone with the wind…. Factor in the wind when considering what items will be set out on the tables. Tablecloths need to be weighted down, and buffet labels secured well. Cute kids tables with paper plates/cups set at place settings look fantastic but won’t look as good if the wind gets to them! Instead opt for using a cute prop such as a crate or paper suitcase to display the plates and cups for kids to grab before they serve.

Green lovin’ Whatever colour scheme you choose, having a party outdoors means green is inevitably going to be a part of your colour scheme so choose colours which will work in with your natural surroundings. If there is a gorgeous feature in the garden, park etc then use this as your backdrop for a dessert table. Take a seat… A garden party means you can incorporate seating options which are a little more unique for the guests. You could create a lovely picnic atmosphere with rugs, cushions and a few deck chairs. Or create a whimsical garden feel with mismatched chairs. Dream up ways to create a special setting:

The little details… When planning a garden party, of course we cannot forget the practical items: garbage bags so no rubbish is left behind amongst the environment, food covers, sunscreen, insect repellent, fans for your guests if it’s a hot day – all the little items which help a party run smoothly outdoors and that your guests will appreciate as well! My last tip is to remember to visit the Life’s Little Celebrations party directory to find all the fantastic vendors you need. When planning your next spring occasion!
