Cleaned, groomed minimalist makeup – the beauty trend that is causing so much commotion in 2017 and we’re in love! Out with the heavily contoured cheekbones, and overly strobed and baked faces, and now, in with the fresh skin, feathery brows and wispy lashes! This trend was seen across the board of the Spring/Summer 2017 fashion shows, featuring on the cat walks of Michael Kors, Vera Wang, Isabel Marant and Proenza. Moreover, with the likes of Kim Kardashian, Alicia Keys  and Demi Lovato sporting this look, there is no wonder why this trend is making a stand. Now beauty lovers around the world can bump their fists in the air and embrace the more natural side of beauty!

So how do we get such as look? We have put together the absolute ultimate guide to achieve this trend! To make things even better, we have made product suggestions for both dry and oily skin.

First off, this look has a high focus on skin, so to prep the skin, we recommend the FIRST AID BEAUTY – Facial Radiance PadsThis is a product that I would suggest for every skin type – even for the sensitive. These pads contain a gentle blend of lactic and glycolic acids that will smooth out the skin, getting rid of any dry patches and textural issues you may have. Additionally, with the indian gooseberry and liquorice root extract, your skin will also be even toned, glowing and ready!

This is another important step as not only does plumped hydrated skin appear more youthful but, dry skin is the absolute enemy to makeup! To save money and time, we are recommending moisturisers that can act as both a hydrator and a makeup primer!

For OILY SKIN: THIS WORKS – In Transit Camera Close Up
Raved by Victoria Beckham, this gem can be used as a makeup primer, moisturiser and mask! Composed of hyaluronic acid, caffeine and gigawhite, this lotion instantly revitalises dull skin, and provides immediate hydration and radiance. This is specifically great for oily/combination skin types as it is lightweight, leaves a semi-matte finish and creates the perfect canvas for makeup to glide on top and last longer!

For DRY SKIN: DR. JART – Ceramidin Cream
This is a Korean beauty cult favourite and a godsend for dry skin! With a texture that is so indescribably silky and creamy, this moisturiser smoothes over dry patches and soothes irritated reddened skin. It is packed full of ceramides which will quench parched skin from deep within, leaving you with plumped dewy skin that is primed for makeup!

Instead of a full face of foundation, opt for a concealer to hide areas here and there that you want to cover. However, find the right concealer can be tricky since a lot out there are thick and heavy and can be even more obvious when not wearing foundation. Our following suggestions are concealers that are undetectable yet with coverage.

For OILY SKIN: BY TERRY  Touche Veloutee Enlightening Concealer Brush
By the same woman who pioneered the best-selling YSL – Touche Éclat, Terry de Gunzburg created a new and improved product that fulfills every aspect the Touche Éclat does not. Like its YSL predecessor, the Touche Éclat maintains that thin, delicate consistency though with a whole lot more coverage and a semi-matte finish – making it ideal for oilier skin types. What’s even better, is that this high coverage concealer appears invisible even when looking in a magnified mirror!

For DRY SKIN: BECCA  Aqua Luminous Perfecting Concealer
If you are a dry skinned pal and finding it difficult to find a new concealer that doesn’t cake up, definitely try the Becca – Aqua Luminous Perfecting Concealer. This light reflecting weightless formula is so moisturising that it will easily glide over dry areas. And with its light to medium buildable coverage, this concealer effortlessly fuses with the skin for a natural, non-cakey finish!

4. POWDER – only for OILY SKIN!

This is a step that may not be necessary for those on the dryer side yet, for oilier skin types this is a must! As well as locking in the makeup, powder will prevent a greasy mess and help to achieve a lit within glow! The key is to only set in the areas that get oily. That way, the rest of the face is left luminous!
We suggest the LAURA MERCIER – Translucent Powder.
An awarwinning cult favourite, this velvety powder needs no introduction. Loved by makeup artists around the world, this translucent powder has a modern matte finish that absorbs oil and sets makeup like no other. With a sheer touch of coverage, this powder creates a soft-focus effect!

Adding a little highlight on to the high points of the face can really make your skin look even more radiant and healthy. But with so many high beaming glittery highlighters out there, it’s about choosing one that is subtle yet still radiant. We nominate the BECCA – Shimmering skin Perfector!
This liquid illuminator is yet another industry favourite! It melds so effortlessly with the skin, providing it with a veil of an almost translucent glow. Made of ultra-fine light-reflecting pearls, this highlighter has no trace of a glitter ball effect.

Groomed fluffy brows are another part of this look and there is one product that comes to our mind to achieve naturally fuller looking brows: BENEFIT – Gimmie Brow!
This treasure is for those who want to fill in their brows and set their hairs in place in one easy step. It is a fibre gel that mimics the look of real hairs for fuller voluminous brows!

Finally, the last step is natural wispy lashes and we commend: MAYBELLINE  Full n Soft!
This mascara has been a treasure of the game for a long time. If you want something affordable that will separate whilst naturally lengthening and volumising your lashes, without a doubt, try this one. What’s more, is that it also leaves your lashes soft and clump free!
